Signs, Signs, Signs

Signs are a highly important part of a functioning society. A sign can include a letter, a road sign, a song or anything that represents something else. In order for a sign to be effective it must be clearly understood throughout the societal parameters.

Here is an example of how signs can be horribly misinterpreted. Because a sign stands for something else, if the viewer is not clear as to what this something else means there is room for interpretation. In this particular case, the lady believes the popular “Deer Crossing” signs found throughout wooded regions were signs encouraging deer to cross at this designated location.

It is impossible to create a mutual understanding of signs, as different things have different meanings to different people. What is important is the majority of persons are able to comprehend its meaning, creating purpose.
